[WIP] - The Thing
Last week I was surprised when I saw an announcement of a level based on The Thing movie, created in 1982 by John Carpenter, a famous horror movie director. The whole movie happens on an american antarctic research station, where a helicopter crashes right before the science team. They adopt the dog that was running away from the helicopter, and soon the dog transforms into something... disgusting. Then the crew starts dying or even worse, they transform into a violent creature. But enough about the movie, we are here to feature KDavis level and assets based on the movie.
Asset Preview
Here are some of the asset build specially for the level by the map creator KDavis. He created the basic exterior of some of the buildings plus some smaller props like a wooden sign.

The author also designed a fantastic level with a great atmosphere. Below you can see some of the screenshots with the night and fog settings, he also places some very atmospheric lights and paid a great deal of attention to the small details like road tracks.

Yes, there is more, he also showed us a short video preview of the map, in which you can see some of the previously mentioned features (fog, great atmosphere, creepy surroundings) of the level.

Looks epic, very moody 
Though the current ToD seems a little to grey and simple. I can't see any stars (Yes, it's a blizzard but still).

In the old game you even saw less them this, that light posts were a necessity for navigation when outside.
Kdavis nice job, and if i may, try to make it like Cryostasys were the cold can kill you and so you need to find some heat source to give you health a lamp a fire a motor, etc, i know this is not on the movie nor the old game but i think is a cool feature that would give more to this mod.

Dude thats a pritty cool idea, as in the game, if you were outside for too long you would freeze so you could only be outside for a short time!
And yeah the whole reason the the light post was to see in the blizzards and at night too!, as there could be days when you couldnt even see a few meters in front of you!

Ive never been able to complete the old game, I got stuck at some point and after countless retries I gave up.
You've done an incridible amount of work so far it looks stunning. Hopefully you will continue your work to a full demo/mod.

Well I never played the actual game so I just based my suggestion of what I think 
Still, looks cool. Does the actual blizzard have moving particles ? to make it seem like there is an awesome storm ;P

i remember playing the game. i messed my pants multiple time. infact i probably still would. then after i completed the game i realised there was a movie. (i know wrong way round to do it) and with the movie i messed my pants multiple times. so what im hoping with this good looking mod/level here is some messy pants and an angry mother who has to wash them

haha oh my! Im in the middle of looking over soe blueprints to model the inside of the building! Im not sure if ill model it all. But its taking ages to do. But then after that ive got to model props toooo!
