whoohooo Global Illumination! that feature was rocking in STALKER, and added so much realism in lighting (especially when night, I suppose this will make night time in CE3 far more awesome!)

So basically light just reflects off other objects now? Sounds fairly cool.

Global illumination will look amazing. After all, that's how we get all of our ambient light in real life.

Awesome, as always.

BTW, the first scene is very similar to UE3's GDC 2009 presentation. I wonder why? Tongue Epic showed UE3's improved lightmap engine on this presentation. Now CE3 reaches this quality in real-time. Awesome. Smile

mmm graphical goodness, however i think that the UT3 engine looks alot cooler and stylish and nicer(only epic games tho). i think that the cryengine is just technically beautiful.

It looks FANTASTIC.

I just hope they don't axe the i_lighteffectshadows command like in Warhead Frown

Yes, the UE3 engine used a similar map. I dont know why they used the same area, as its not that good, imo. Im still waiting for the PC version, as the massive lighting video was [hopefully] the console version, as the textures looked bad.

Looks great! (I watched the video here.)

The light propagation volumes approach looks way better than the screen-space GI they showed back when announcing CE3. The apartment scene with the moving ToD is sexehh! Big Grin

[EDIT] The effect is scaringly similar to what I was planning the other day with flowgraphs (attaching a fill light to dynamic objects, and adjusting the intensity of the fill light based on the amount of light hitting the object). Shocked Not sure if that would be possible in CE² though, I don't think lights can be manipulated very much in FG and the light/dark sensor code seems to be unfinished...

[EDIT2] 400 moving light sources @ 160 fps, shown here is not unimpressive either; beats deferred lighting by a mere 100 fps increase. Smile

As far as I know, it's same map and it's a free to use model. Both Epic and CryTek made some changes on it (adding clothes etc.).

I think, you are comparing an engine with a game's (GoW, UTIII) art style and it's wrong.
