Crysis Wars Free Trial week - F.A.Q.
Introduction
Welcome to our F.A.Q. Here you will find answers to all of the most common questions that players have asked, and a few more from the team here at Crytek!
F.A.Q.
Q: When does the trial week take place?
A: You can start downloading the game on Monday, April 6th and will be able to play online from Thursday, April 9th to Friday, April 17th.
Q: What do i have to do?
A: If you don't own Crysis Wars, this is a unique occasion for you to download the FULL game with its 3 game modes and 23 maps. As soon as your download is over, you will be able to play on LAN with your friends for free. You can claim your key directly from MyCrysis when the trial begins!
Q: Who can participate?
A: Everyone can participate. There is no limitation.
Q: How can I participate?
A: Just register here. Once you have done so you will receive a demo CDKey.
Q: Is there a time limit for registration?
A: No, you can register to the website when ever you want however, the sooner you register the sooner you can start playing! The trial period ends on Friday, 17th April - so you have until then to register.
Q: Will I have to pay anything?
A: No, the free trial period is absolutely free, we want as many people to play during the week and have as much fun as possible.
Q: When will I receive my demo CDKey?
A: A post will go out on the major websites we are working with, from there you will see a message in the MyCrysis News section, there you will be asked to click a button entitled "Generate my Trial Key".
Q: If I lost my key, how can I get it back?
A: Your demo CDKey will be available in your MyCrysis profile under the My Account -> My Trial Keys.
Q: How many demo CDKeys can I have?
A: There is only 1 demo CDKey per MyCrysis user.
Q: If I already bought the game, what’s the interest?
A: You will see more people online this week, and will be able to make new friends.
Q: If I already bought the game, can I give my demo CDKey to a friend?
A: Yes, if you don’t need a demo CDKey to play the game, you can share it with a friend of yours.
Q: Can I download the game in advance?
A: Yes, the game files have been made available since Monday the 6th of April.
Q: Can I really play LAN for free?
A: Yes, you are allowed to install the game on as many machines as you want. As soon as you have enabled the online activation, you are able to play on LAN for as long as you wish.
Q: Can I play online without a CDKey?
A: No, you can’t play online without a CDKey.
Q: How can I get a CDKey?
A: CDKey's will be generated manually when you click the news post on the MyCrysis webpage. This will enable you to play online during the trial week, you can however, purchase Crysis: Warhead and play with that CD Key.
Q: I can’t log into my GameSpy account, help!
A: You need create a new account in the Crynet menu if you are not allowed to connect with an older Gamespy account. This will solve the problem.
Q: How do I buy Weapons in Power struggle?
A: Press P to bring up the buy menu, you must be in a bunker spawn or near a reinforcement truck, or in one of the several factory buildings.
To earn more Prestige points (PP) you must capture enemy territories, or kill people.
Q: How do I spawn in a different Bunker?
A: Press M and choose one that your team owns
Q: How come people can see me when I'm cloaked!?
A: Cloaks emit a loud buzzing sound, which makes it easy for people to pinpoint. The cloak also is much like camo in any other game, there's a slight visual distortion, and people can still see your shadow.
Also if you have a laser sight, people can see the laser sight of your gun. Cloak is great if your enemy has no idea where you are, but if they are shooting at you, best try to kill them or speed mode it outta there.
Q: Can my computer run Crysis Wars?
A: If your computer meets the minimum requirements as follow, yes:

Well technically if you lower the res to 1024 x 768 as well as the settings to low, it doesnt run horrible about 20-25fps

Is it allowed to play the game over Hamachi after the trial period is over? Or doesn't that count as LAN?

Says the guy who is, I quote, "SavedEddy'sDignityEdit"
I'll probably be playing all the way through the trial period, till I can buy another copy of Wars it's the only opportunity I have, me being awesome and losing my CD key. Plus it'll look better than the last time I played it, on my 8400GS. :/

Cough, i play with an (overclocked) mX1600 128MB at mostly 30+ FPS, sometimes dropping to 25 but very rarely lower than that. Granted, it's on low at 800x600, but still...

My apologies if this has already been answered... Does the sandbox2 editor come with Crysis Wars?
EDIT
After further searching, it looks like it does.
Now for my next question, is there a separate SDK for Wars? The only SDK I've been able to find is the SDK 1.2 for Crysis. I'm fairly certain this is what I'll need but want to make sure.
Thank you,
Jon

Thank you raxxxor18 for the link, much appreciated. I suppose this SDK is a much smaller filesize because Wars is MP only?
Reason I ask, I want to familiarize myself with sadnbox2 so I figured since Wars is the newest version out I should start here instead of Crysis. Is there any advantage in using the Wars sandbox editor versus Crysis, will I still have access to the same or similar content that's in Crysis? (Other than SP related content/coding)
My goal is to build a few test maps focusing on importing my own custom content and tweaking it to look the best I can. I have no immediate plans to make a playable map nor release any maps, just want to learn for now.
Thank you,
Jon

its not mp only. with patch 1.4 you get sp support for wars. so you can build your dreams
additionally you'll get nearly all assets from warhead too, an improved texture/terrain editor and some annoying bugs too.. I use the Wars Editor only, but its not a big difference from the original Crysis one (except its free). I wish you luck with learning SB2
Even if you won't release anything yet, you can share your work with us, we will help you if you need to or give you ideas for improvements.

That's exactly the information I needed, thanks again for the help.
I will definitely be posting W.I.P.'s for comments and critiques. I look forward to picking the brains of the SB2 modders here.
Dankeschön,
Jon

RE: Crysis Wars Free Trial week - F.A.Q.
This is how Crytek should announce everything!
Clearly and easy to understand!
Even though we got the editor now, the stated facts about it were few!
