Temporary Solution for Problems with Auto Map Downloader

Introduction
There is currently an issue with the Auto-Map Downloader in combination with the Crytek Anti Cheat solution that will kick players from servers with a Hash Mismatch when the server is running user created maps

The reason for these kicks are the downloaded maps which are saved in the MyGames folder instead of the Game directory of your Crysis Wars installation.

We have a temporary solution prepared for all server administrators that want to run user created maps. It is basically a slightly overworked Protect.xml file that is just securing the original Crysis Wars levels. So there are actually no security checks on user created levels.

Installation
If you want to update your game server please follow the instructions below

  • Download the CrysisWars_Protect.zip from the MyCrysis download section.
  • Open the archive.
  • Extract the Protect.xml file and copy it into the Game folder of your Crysis Wars server installation.
  • When done, restart the server.

If you encounter additional problems related to this change or if you have questions about the installation just leave us a message in the forums.

So this basically allows ALL sorts of cheating on custom maps...way to go, CryTek!

Misunderstanding. It actually does not protect the user created maps what means that there is no check for the level.pak. Still you have checks for all the common script files and everything else.

Ah...but still you'd be able to cheat a lot more easily...guess we'll just have to wait for the permanent solution...

C4te why don't the downloaded maps go inside the crysis map folder? It would eliminate any conflicts with server/data authentication.

I'd rather the maps were downloaded to where I installed crywars, not my main OS partition.

Although it needs to get fixed, this is a good temp soultion. DLing maps is gonna make or break the game, and its better to have a few people -try- and cheat than have this already not work.

Big Grin

Also:

Today I used this xml, merged with SSM protect. Most was already there, but I still got kicked, until I added this:

<exclude level="1" wildcard="*.mtl"/>

It seems all the custom maps form the Intel contest have their logo, which is what was kicking people from the maps. It was a mtl file, so I added this, and now all works right. Was this wise?

This is awesome. Thank you.

I don't understand why you guys think this is a bad solution...I thought all dx9 night/day servers had to exclude level.pak currently.
