"Niveus" Medieval map v1.0


Hello, everyone.

At last, v1.0 of "Niveus" map is ready for release. I optimized it as much as I could, and had time to (occluders, physical proxies, mipmaps, resized large texture etc.), so, now on my machine I can run it at approximately 10-12 fps on high, which is fairly good, considering I am getting 20 fps just looking at an empty map Smile There are few things I would like to recommend:

1. Map is optimized to be played on minimum High settings (its look relies a lot on HDR and AO).
2. If it runs way too slow, try lowering your screen resolution
3. Turn off any AA, unless you have a very good system

I am certain, those of you with good machines, will be able to get pretty good performance on this map. For those with slower computers, I included variation of the map without vegetation, which may improve your fps to some extent.

Installation:

- Extract Objects/Niveus to your ..Crysis\Game\Objects folder
- Extract Levels/Niveus and/or Levels/Niveus_NoVegetation to your ..Crysis\Game\Levels folder
- Open the console, type in con_restricted 0 and press Enter, to allow access to all console commands.
- Load the map by typing "map Niveus" or "map Niveus_NoVegetation" in the console and pressing Enter.

It wont let me do anything to the objects folder.

Edit: Never mind. I extracted it directly in the directory and it's fine.

There are many occlusion problems.







"Important Point for Occlusion Setting"

1. Occluder must be smaller than each building & object.
2. You must not place occluder in the gap.

* e_debug_draw=11: this console command display occluders on screen. Smile

Thank for info, mate. I really didn't have any experience setting up occluders, but this shouldn't be hard to fix, I'll definitely correct it in the next version.

Drop the 'objects' folder and it's contents into the Crysis 'game' folder. I'm sure you know what to do with the levels folder(?).

Amazing work man, seeing that castle for the first time was literally breathtaking.
Most beautiful thing I have seen on here yet. You should make the buildings enterable then it would be even better. Wink

There seems to be an issue with the trees/depth of field which makes them opaque when the sky is behind it (edit: Ah its the alpha-blend). Performance is spot on though. Also, have you generated surface texture?

I'll have a better look around and let you know if I find any bugs or problems, but again, great work.

Occluder problems like stated above, Some physical proxies are missing. A lot of your enties you placed you should of ticked the "pickable" option so you can pick them up and throw them Wink Overall a very amazing environment. keep up the good work.

if you bring this out as a IA map when crysis wars is realesed id even buy this game.
its so amazing. but i found a few bugs:

1.invisible wall (but you can jump over it)
2. standing in the air and getting out of the level

Id really love if you kept the possibility to jump on the roofs but somehow block
the player from leaving the level.
