[E3] IGN's PC Best of E3 2008 Awards - Warhead Wins Two Times!
Welcome to a new crymod news regarding Warhead, the upcoming game from Crytek. In this news we will feature the Best of PC Games E3 2008 Awards from IGN. The award is given to games which were presented at the E3 and are the best in their category. To read the full article just visit the following link: IGN's PC Best of E3 2008 Awards
Crysis Warhead: Best First-Person Shooter
Crysis Warhead has won an award as the best first-person shooter at the E3.
| quote: |

Best First-Person Shooter:
Crysis Warhead
Developer: Crytek
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Release Date: September 2008
Shown at E3 on: PC
It's key to note that all three nominees for the best PC shooter of E3 have one thing in common: they are all essentially sandbox games that let you tackle a situation any way you want. That's a sign of just how far the FPS genre has evolved from its days of narrowly linear, highly-scripted gameplay. Far Cry 2 promises an incredibly realized digital Africa, a place full of competing factions and wild card mercenaries. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is the follow-up to one of the most immersive and atmospheric shooters in recent memory.
But Crysis Warhead wins because nothing at E3 could match its frantic intensity, wild nanosuit gameplay, and state-of-the-art visuals. Warhead promises an entire game full of sandbox battles; basically the best parts of last year's Crysis, and that's always great news for shooter fans who like to think on the move. |
Crysis Warhead: Best Graphics Technology
Crysis Warhead has also won an award as the best graphics technology at the E3.
| quote: |

Best Graphics Technology:
Crysis Warhead
Developer: Crytek
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Release Date: September 2008
Shown at E3 on: PC
Even a year later, nothing comes visually close to Crysis. Nothing, that is, except Crysis Warhead, a spin-off follow-up that actually enhances the look that Crysis achieved. There's an improved ambient lighting system, as well as a new particle system that makes explosions look even more spectacular. When you blend the jaw-dropping visuals with the large amount of environmental interactivity, you get a playground that's fun to run around in and blow up. And best of all the designers have optimized the gameplay code, as well as rethought the visual settings.
Now, instead of very high, high, medium, and low, there are options for the type of gamer that you are. Most gamers will probably select the gamer option, but those with high-end systems can test them by choosing the enthusiast setting that cranks the visuals up. Even at the gamer setting, Warhead looks better than almost any game, but at enthusiast it looks downright incredible. |

LoL, so not PC exclusive and don't even get showcased in the video...
I'm having a brainfart, can't think of anything clever to say.
Personally though I don't see whats so great about Fallout3 except the graphics.
I HAVE 666 POSTS!!!!!
Damn, I so don't want to post again now , its to perfect with my name
This whole PC exclusive thing is getting weird now. MS talking about Warhead and Live, IGN saying its coming for 360 and PS3 and wasn't there some retailer who had warhead listed for 360 but it was such a small retailer from australia that everyone chalked it up to an internal mistake.... If something is up I think the cat is out of the bag by now....
This is getting to be a lot of screwups for something that is strictly PC.

So far all I liked there was Rock Band 2 and Mirror's Edge.
And I hope Cry-Alex has an explanation for this.

I don't know what the fuss is about fallout 3 either, it doesn't look good ( graphically) but I have no idea what the story behind it is, so I can't be the one to judge it.

Didnt CoD4 get IGS's "best graphics of 2007" last year....Yeah they aren't biased at all or payed off... I don't really take them seriously they're in the developers pockets.
I like fallout 3 because of the falout storyline. I also like the idea that its a open sandbox game, even more open then crysis.

Alex has stated numerous times that Crysis:Warhead is PC only.
It is quite possible that since he has made those statements Crytek has decided to port it over to the consoles. That would explain the Windows Live thing which Cry-Alex and Cry-Vlok dismissed in a recent thread(Today).
I would chalk this up as a mistake by IGN because Alex and Vlok wouldnt be running around the forums saying PC exclusive and NO Windows Live if it wasnt true.

How can you have the "Best of 2008" when we are only halfway thru it?

Why not? Why would you announce such a big thing to a community of modders and fans...
Thats announcement worthy, not post worthy. Saying anything at all does make it lose credibility though. If it was coming why would you even get involved by saying no? Let people converse about it. Maybe its not definitely coming, but maybe since its still in development with some times away to be done they are working on possibly having it by release. And then you can say "well it wasn't at first, but the team worked very hard to intergrate it and now we can proudly announce Warhead will be Live". Plus with all the misprints and slip ups recently, which is highly odd (i've never seen a game get so much news "wrong" about it) the idea isn't to far fetched.
let me correct that, i've never seena game that was going to be released get so much news agency information wrong. I don't think anything will beat Duke Nukem Forever in that department.

It isnt farfetched and it is apart of business to try and cover slip ups up (Enron).
It could very well be coming to the consoles. Like I said in a above post and mephisto, they can add it in after they made these comments.

I could be wrong but isn't crysis being ported already. Also wth was Warhead didn't see it.
As for Fallout 3, im looking forward to it because i think its going to be like a mix between Crysis, Oblivion and slightly Stalker because of the type of world it is, and they're some of my favourite games. But i can see why people dont like it.

Technically Fallout 3 is considered an RPG and not a shooter, even thought it features shooting elements.

They didn't show best FPS game in their video, I'm not that jazzed for Fallout 3, seems like it should have stronger RPG gameplay and instead they're trying to make it into an action game.
Activision didn't attend so CoD5 wasn't there, I have a feeling the masses will be drawn to it this fall just like CoD4 did.
Going to be another season of extreme competition for game makers vying for dollars and attention from players.
