For all these new skyboxes I used panoramic skys (hemispherical format) from cgtextures.com. I edited them a little bit, converted them to Cubemaps and finally converted them to the Cubemap-format for Crysis. There are no extra added landscape or mountain texturs to see (except for one) on these new skys.
Of course I played with the Time Of Day-Settings for the preview pictures.^^
Put the z_sky_*** and the z_mtl_sky_*** files into: Crysis\Game
Start the editor, load your level, go to the rollupbar and select from point terrain(green icon) the "Environment" sub-menu. Here is a part with sky settings and you can call the material editor to select a skybox.
Hilarious things about a skybox in crysis (generally):
If you change the default skybox "sky", then the moon and sun will disappear in the map, but that`s normal in crysis.
Maybe it looks a little bit weird if you runing/flying over your map and the skybox isn`t coming closer to you.
Postprocessing quality on very- or ultra high makes the skybox blurred, because of the dept of field effect.
