Better Know a Mod #38: The Legend of Stargate
Welcome to the 38th Edition of our Better Know a Mod series. This week we will introduce to you The Legend of Stargate, an interesting mod under development from Visuell Studios that gives its own take on the Stargate Universe.
About the Mod
The Legend of Stargate is a beautifully-detailed adventure game/FPS combo that takes you on a ride through a fictional universe. But do not expect to find anything related to the original Stargate though - to avoid copyright issues, the mod team has decided to base their mod in their own completely made-up "Stargate" universe, and rid itself of any of the original Stargate IP. So everything will be made completely from scratch, and only the name is used. You will proceed through several levels of pure fun. The missions, story, and gameplay will be immersive and entirely true to the Science-Fiction genre. Translated into English, the mod description reads:

The project is no official Mod on the subject Stargate, and it has nothing to do with the official Stargate-play, Stargate: The Alliance and Stargate. |

Here is a preview trailer they have created that will tell you a bit more about the mod.

Is a disclaimer enough to avoid legal problem with such mods?
I would hate to see this mod deleted after we have seen such nice screenshots and the team work their lower-backs off.

I've seen the a Stargate MOD for the Source engine, you guys have them beat LOL!
I never really understood the whole IP thing....as far as which companies are cool and wich aren't...you know.
The "007 Goldeneye" MOD for the Source engine is a great example, it's a GREAT recreation of the original N64 game with Source! but man! how did they get away with that?
