Climap Full Mod


Hi this is the thread for the Climap mod. We are creating our own level and all the assets within the mod, including characters and hopefully weapons. We are just past beta stage now. We have a website at Climap. Check "The World" to see some of the artwork used within the game.
We have a character Wip section here Characters WIP.

The Plot of the game:

Set in the present times, the 2nd Iceage has just hit the earth. No-one was prepaired and many died. Those who survived live in camps in and around the cities scavenging to survive. Climap is set in Rio de Janeiro, and the mod will create the Airport Terminal area of the game. The cities have become home to the “city dwellers”, outcasts of society, criminals and drifters, but also to a new civilisation of “Survivors”, a hardy people with advanced technologies that seemingly thrive in the new climate. The player controls a character of an encampment outside the city. The player must enter the city in search for survivors to help save the encampment. The game would be created as a open exploration game.

The mod Climap is part of Ben Purkis, Sophie Wood and myself's final 2nd Year University project, at University of Hertfordshire, England. We are to design a full game (Climap) and create a trailer of a chosen level from the game. We are also hoping to have the level fully functional too in hope that we can display it at the end of year Exhibition.

Here are the assets I personally have made, we have created a quick teaser trailer also which will soon be in this thread.






In game shots will be online soon from the beta and new versions of the level

Those are really amazing. Are those escalators that were in the other pictures actually functioning or just stand still?

The escalators are staionary as there is no power in the cities after the IceAge.

Well, that does make sense now. Does that mean nighttime=Deep Darkness and we're required to use flashlights?

Yes the whole terminal will be quite dark, we are still unsure what time of day to shoot the trailer for our degree project. Flashlights will be needed, this will add to the atmosphere of the game and terminal. The terminal will feature dead frozen bodies of people who sought refuge in the terminal. It is all quite earry as the terminal is left in the "middle of life" as the sudden iceage hit the planet. The environment is very foggy as you will see from the trailer

That's very good for the mood of the game. Will there be any multiplayer/Co-Op aspect to the game?

EDIT: I just watched the teaser trialer, and the sounds are very realistic? Speaking of sound, will you have custom voices?

It looks like theyve got more to worry about than flight delays Roll Eyes .It would be really cool if you made the entrance areas covered in snow brought in from the draft etc. Im not sure where the escelators are but from that picture, maybe make the first section of the airport have snow almost coming up to the bottom of the posters on the wall. It would make it more atmospheric and give you a better idea of how long the place had been abandoned. Happy

One of the 3rd's of the terminal, the ceiling has collapsed and the whole ground floor is covered in snow, also the opposite side has a large snow drift that has come thorugh the glass walls, I will get a few screens now to show you.

The deadline for the Trailer is in 25ish days, so the trailer will be finished then and a complete if not near complete level will be ready by then for the Exhibition. Though if there are things to sort we will add to the mod over the summer break if we have time. Though hopefully mid may to june will be a release date for the mod

lol its still snowing in the terminal because we still need to set iit up so it doesnt, becaus ethe glass roof isnt all one object, the snow falls on the roof and then falls through between the glass pane and the pane Big Grin bit annoying but we will fix it soon.

also the planes are in the terminal because they are models that are hanging from the roof they just need support wires still Tongue
