Red Mesa - Released - Press







NOTE: The uninstaller made from the installer has an error, which means it does not work. A working uninstaller is coming soon.
To uninstall red mesa simply:

Delete the "Crysis/game/levels/Red Mesa" folder
Delete the "Crysis/mods/RedMesa" folder



Red mesa is a crysis singleplayer level inspired by Half-Life, the award-winning game from Valve.

Story
Red Mesa, a competitor to Black Mesa located in new Mexico, are building a nano suit for use in hazardous environments. With abilities to move faster and lift heavy objects.
YOU are the test-subject of this suit. But as a result of a mistake in the testings, the scientists start to fear you. They believe that the suit has corrupted you. Now they are doing everything in their power to stop you.
Now you have to survive everything that is sent to take you out as well as escape the complex.

Features
Here is a list of some of the features in the Red Mesa map:

  • Half-Life/Black mesa inspired environments (The Level starts off after the resonance cascade in black mesa.)
  • +2 hours of gameplay
  • Mostly indoor environments (Outdoor areas exist)
  • More linear than crysis
  • Aliens
  • Zombies By ShortStuf7 (with custom skins by me and a place in the story)
  • Zero G Environment (unlike zero G in crysis)
  • Custom Textures, Models, Music and Dialog
  • Suit energy does not regenerate, battery pickups. More info here
  • Custom Suit Voice
  • Achievements (Similar to "Xbox live" and "Steam Works") Read more here

Props for partial HL parody! Those skins are looking very nice, although perhaps that large white tower/tunnel thing could use a bit of variety.

Keep up the good work, it certainly looks differant!

There is no way I can make the map as big as the Black Mesa complex in half-life, but it will be quite big when it's done. I hope I got your question right.

(I know this is not a question) I created the white tower/tunnel thing right after the terrain and I didn't know alot about the editor then, but now I know alot more and I will change/make it cooler someday(before I release the map).

objects/library/architecture/aircraftcarrier/textures/walls/
be sure to have "all materials" instead of "materials library" or "materials used in level".

Hello again,
Long time, no pics.

I'm back with some more pics from the map. I've been busy with this map as well as some other maps, but here I will only show this one. (I know it's been too long since I posted the first pics)

So let's start off with this pic. I replaced the big white ugly thing with some pipes, it looks a whole lot better this way, don't you think? (There are also some small details added here)


Picture 2 is a testchamber as you might see. You will come cross this in the map and interact with it. As you can see, it's heavily WIP, it will look alot cooler with textures and all that stuff.

The same chamber from another angle.

And the last pic is a shot of one of the controlrooms of the testchamber, this is heavily WIP as well.


Hope you liked it, I'll post more pics soon enough.

Daaamn Florry, that stuff is looking kickass man. That is definitely some awesome work right there.

I gotta say, those pipes look very nice in place of that white air-duct lookin thing you had there before. And that TestChamber/ControlRoom is looking especially nice. I wish I had some inspiration like that. Sadly, however, my skills are still limited so I guess it's back to the drawing board for yet another map to play around with.

Good work on Red Mesa though, hope to play it soon. Good job.
