How to play a custom SP/MP map
Over 30 maps created by the community already made their way into our Downloads Section and more are being added on a daily base.
Since the most of you already own the retail version of Crysis we got asked quite a few times how to run a custom made Singleplayer or Multiplayer map. Further below you can find the instructions for that:
Custom SP Level- Go to your Crysis game folder -> Electronic Arts -> Crytek -> Crysis -> Game -> Levels.
- Eventually backup existing levels with the same name.
- Copy the level folder from the downloaded file into the current game folder (Game/Levels).
- Start Crysis.
- Open console and type in "con_restricted 0" (without "") to allow access to console commands.
- Load your custom map by typing in "map mapname" (Without "") and press Enter.
Custom MP Level- Go to the ..\Game\Levels\Multiplayer\IA or \PS folder depending on the gametype.
- Eventually backup existing levels with the same name.
- Place the custom map into this folder.
- Start Crysis.
- Open console and type in "con_restricted 0" (without "") to allow access to console commands.
- Set the gamerules via "sv_gamerules PowerStruggle or InstantAction" (without "").
- Load your custom map by typing in "map mapname" (Without "") and press Enter.
Crysis Launcher
In addition a few community members are currently working on an external launcher. One of them has been created by our Admin Clivey and is available for download already.
This little tool allows you to launch the Crysis mods and levels available in your installation directory both in the game itself and in the editor.

(the mod is set up correct too) but it won't start the map from the "Mods\xxx\Game\Levels\"
startupParams are: "-devmode -mod xxx"
do i have to change a specific scriptfile or type in the whole path or sth else?

well do following:
1. behind the target window of your crysis shortcut add following -MOD (case sensitive)
so it looks like "..\Crysis.exe" -MOD yourmod
2. your level needs to be in ..\Mods\yourmod\Game\Levels\yourlevel
3. start the game with the mod and then proceed with the info about the SP level in the news.

i did a 100% what you said and its not workin.
my mod is called "usg" the map "paanzer". located at "Mods/usg/Game/Levels/paanzer"
D:\Games\Crysis\Bin32\Crysis.exe -MOD usg -devmode
map paanzer
edit:
i set up my whole mod folder case sentitive and also the .lnk
exported correctly ect.
but it's not possible to open a map located in a mod folder (via console)
i dunno if it's another startupParameter or whatever but right now im preety frustrated.
(the map works i also tested a cry original (ice) and it didnt work out.)
is the -MOD xxx invalid or is it just a horrible bug, or am i completely stupide?

greetings,
loading a custom level inside your mod folder does not work currently. we are already looking into this issue.
what you can do as an alternative in the case you have custom objects in your level is following:
- place all your custom objects in your mod folder
- start the editor with your mod (http://doc.crymod.com/Mod.html)
- create your level and place all custom objects inside
- save the level in the normal \Games\Levels folder
when you know launch crysis with your mod you can load your level (that is placed in the default levels directory) via console and still have your custom objects included.
sorry,
-alex

if i remember well...
Interesting, when i modified a singleplayer map (only one file: island.xml) and put it in to Mods/mymod/Game/Levels/Island folder it has an effect in the (mymod) game.

So with the new patch downloaded, does the folder where I put my own map change? also, opening it with the console, can I have multiple players on it?

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -MOD Firebase_mod
does not work
It only works if I use the crysis launcher. But then how can I remove the dev info in the upper right corner?

open the console and type in r_displayinfo 0 and hit enter
maybe you need to unlock the console before with con_restricted 0.
cheers,

is the mod a real mod location or just to play content not crysis levels...

Hello,
Once again the "same" questions ; I don't wanna be persecuting CryTek developers but a few more implementations OR/AND documentations would really be fine if they could... ( The official SandBox2 manual does not suck... But could be more achieved, isn't it ? )
I am new here, thus I might have bypassed some recent important informations, but everywhere I go, I read the same questions and it seems there are a lot off people interesting in the answer.
I tried several downloaded mods in order to understand the better way to pack my own map in my own mod : I tried as it is described upper and I also tried with a few new free loader-tools. Each time, according to the chosen maneer, it was systematically OR not working properly, OR needing too much manipulations from the player, according to me.
...Is there any way to package a mod in order to let the player playing its first own map in just pressing the "play (single)" button ?
Some kind of way to override the vanilla maps and missions, like for a "total conversion" ?
( Assuming would be provided a link to launch the game with the mod itself yet loaded )
...All I read now is about entering codes in console mode, to unprotect the console itself first ( Each time ??? ) and to load the proper map ( at least if you are remember its exact name !!! )
Should it be so hard to launch a new map with a mod yet loaded ?
*************************************************************************
EDIT :
I just found a new beta tool really cool here :
http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=1040&lim=0
It worked with ALL my mods AND maps in 1.2 version ( while the old loader wasn't no more ).
It can load simultaneously a mod AND one of its map in just clicking a few times !
I still would prefer to make this from the game itself without console stuff, or at least with my own link or batch file ( because if I want to make several maps loaded in a specific order with flowgraphes, I would have like the Player to have to follow this order and not to have the ability to play the map he wants like it is possible with this loader... )
