[Scenery] Photos of the Worlds of Crysis

Ah, I finally have my ToDs and my faux DX10s set up to make some proper beauty Smile I'm still impressed by the power of this thing.

If you are interested, my specs include 1Gig of RAM and an ATI Radeon X1800 GTS - most of the above shots were running at 6-8 fps ^^ But... it's well worth it.

Actually, what I really want to try now is a spot of landscape painting from life... I think this might be the first time photorealistic natural landscapes have ever been easily available to create in a 3d environment - I'm very curious just how much fidelity one could retain.

Thank you! Smile I've not tried anything particularly special so far - 1, 2 and 5 are actually just taken whilst walking around in a vast procedural forest: no staging, just photography ^^ (and my favourites, too).

I've a few experiments I want to try next time I have the chance though, which ought to look a bit more interesting Tongue

EDIT: Also, anyone know what the console command is for changing the FOV angle?

Yea thats pretty hot...I'm enjoying the non-island shots (no water or horizon in sight!) as they feel genuinely 'fresh'. Your first two shots are wonderful as you're capturing that dense, endless forest feel, and using exceptionally tall trees to create that enclosed feeling outdoors.

5 Starts, 2 thumbs and a couple of cents. Tongue

Thanks Smile Mind - unlike Seith, I'm not striving for anything resembling a level just now, however. These are mostly just disjoint vistas, landscapes I deemed worthy of capture.

Speaking of which - one more pic is up ^^ Another lovely sunset (alright, alright - I promise I'll get bored of sunrays soon).

Hey 9, that is lovely!

You know what you could do in the "Forest 2" one, it's to try and add some nice drifting fog through the trees. Or maybe to up the "atmospheric height" of the fog altogether. Just to support those sun rays...

Now from a composition stand point, in "Meadow 1" you could try and unbalance a bit your fielding one side or the other. Right now it feels slightly static in a symmetrical sense (same thing for "Forest 1").

On the "Hills" one, while the top half is fantastic, I think it would be worthy to try and vary the placement of the trees and bunch them a bit more together, so that you don't see their trunks so clearly (especially on the left).

"Tree" is quasi-mystical, man! And I love the silhouettes of "Meadow 2". Keep it up! Big Grin

Thanks Seith! Smile

My computer screen is pretty dark, so I never noticed the tree-trunks on hills - I'll look into that once I come to redoing the scene. Oddly, 'Forest 2' I did try with fog, but it didn't seem to work out too well - though I want to go into that later and maybe try some more tweaking - I'll be doing more forest shots yet Tongue

On a separate note - more pics are up Wink This time in a slightly more Crysis-ish theme.

Hey 9of9, those screens look great. The two in particular that really stand out to me are Tree(the lighting in this is brilliant), and the cove pic which has a great atmosphere to it.

I'll see if I can do something about providing higher-rez versions, sure Smile

I'm taking all the shots in the editor - if anyone has ideas on how I could get rid of the stats readout on the top and improve my resolution, I'm willing to listen.

There we go! Wallpapers are now available for most of the images - note that these have been re-shot, so differ in a few ways from the originals. The rest I can upload in resolutions of up to 1280x960 if anyone wants them Smile
